About

A life lived at the threshold

My name is Michael. Over five decades I have walked alongside teachers and traditions across the world - the Kabbalah and Sufism, ashrams and temples, tradition and mysticism, men's work and alternative therapies, the world of medicine and the world of healing.

What I have found is simple: whatever language or ritual we use, the goal is the same - to awaken the light within us, to love more fully, and to walk gently upon the Earth.

I have led circles, healing intensives, and sacred gatherings. I have practised medicine for decades. I have prayed across the lines of division. And I have learned that what makes any gathering transformational is the presence of those within it - and their commitment to their own path, each other, and life itself.

As an Elder, I offer my witnessing presence, compassion, and lived wisdom - spaces for you to reconnect with your own light.

First steps into mysticism

Early 70s

Medicine as service

A shift from mathematics at Cambridge to medicine in London, guided by the St. Francis prayer - make me an instrument of thy peace - taken up as daily practice at Ramagiri Ashram in America.

1974

Ancient Worlds

Time among the mystical traditions of the ancient world - paths of direct dialogue with the divine, carried ever since. A meeting with the work of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov.

A month on the Mount of Olives

Ramadan with the Sufi sheikh Sidi Muhammad al-Jamal. Prayers across the lines of division.

Men's work and the New Warrior

Cape Town to Chicago for a transformational initiation - and the creation of a personal mission: to build a loving, sustainable, abundant world by preparing places of safety for healing.

I work one-to-one, as an elder in circles, speak at gatherings, in service for individuals, communities, and groups - bringing five decades of wisdom, warmth, and presence. By arrangement, online or in person.

One-to-one space to be witnessed without judgment, to slow down together, to connect oneself more deeply.

Eldering

Bringing experience, presence and wisdom into the conversation, whether at gatherings or events or one to one.

Soul Contract

An hour-long session based on the name on your birth certificate, reading what your soul has come to express and become in this life.
